Odissi is an Indian classical dance form originated in the Hindu temples of eastern state of Odisha.

Odissi is based on our ancient Sanskrit Hindu text Natya Sastra. In initial days this dance form was performed by Devadasis with music themed on Indian mythology. Many caves and temples in Puri, Konaraka and Bhubaneswar carry the heritage sculptures and paintings where we can see different form of this performing art.

Bharatnatyam Class

Bharatanatyam was originated in Tanjore Tamilnadu. The word Bharatanatyam comes from

two associated word “Bharat” and” Natyam”. Bharatanatyam's theoretical foundations are based on ancient Sanskrit text by Bharata Muni called ‘Natya Shastra’. Bharatanatyam is also based on ancient Tamil epic ‘Silappatikaram’. Most of the stories depicted in this dance form are seen in our ancient temple sculptures.
